Rostec reduces development time for high-speed aircraft

ORPE “Technologiya” of the Rosteс State Corporation has developed a method for measuring the parameters of radio-transparent materials used in the production of high-speed aircraft. The application of this method will reduce the time for designing and modeling products for aviation and rocketry which are exposed to high temperatures in flight.

The only technique in Russia certified by Rosstandart makes it possible to reliably determine the dielectric characteristics of structural materials at the design stage in the temperature range up to +1200 °C. This technique makes it possible to reduce the time of development work and laboratory research due to the optimal radio engineering design and modeling of radio-transparent fairings of high-speed aircraft.

“Radio-transparent fairings for high-speed aircraft experience significant thermal loads during operation. The task of designers is to ensure that the product shows the specified radio-technical characteristics in a wide temperature range. The technique for measuring parameters developed by the experts of ORPE Technologiya improves and speeds up the process of developing such equipment,” said Oleg Yevtushenko, Executive Director of Rostec.

The All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Physical, Technical, and Radio Engineering Measurements confirmed that the measurement technique complies with the established metrological requirements.

Rostec showcases “smart” acoustic target

The Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIItochMash) of Rostec State Corporation has demonstrated the capabilities of Indicator, a “smart” acoustic target complex. The complex is designed to determine the shooting accuracy and grouping of new small arms, as well as to test sniper weapons. The complex performs on a par with its modern British and Swiss counterparts.

“The smart target consists of a frame with acoustic sensors and a computer. The complex operates using the principle of acoustic location. Its sensors pick up the shockwave produced by the bullet as it passes through the contour of the target and the computer determines where exactly the target has been hit.

“With this smart target, you can quickly and reliably determine the accuracy and grouping of your shots. The technology guarantees that the target is not triggered by ricochet bullets or pieces of soil. It also eliminates the “human” factor in test results as it has been completely excluded from the process of collecting and processing the test results. The development is already being used by a number of Russian arms manufacturers. The complex performs on a par with its newest counterparts from Switzerland and Great Britain,” commented Bekhan Ozdoyev, Industrial Director of Rostec’s armament cluster.

The target system has two versions: “Indicator-1” and “Indicator-2.” They differ in the shape of the acoustic target frame and the location of acoustic sensors.

HOLY11 IS BRINGING BLOCKCHAIN TO THE INDIAN FANTASY SPORTS INDUSTRY

Blockchain is currently one of the most talked-about business technologies. From banking and cybersecurity to the intellectual property and gaming industry, blockchain technology has the potential to make significant changes and open up new opportunities across industries.

Blockchain is a distributed, immutable ledger that makes recording transactions and tracking assets in a business network much easier. On a blockchain network, virtually anything of value can be tracked and traced, lowering risk and cutting costs for all parties involved.

Information is the lifeblood of every business. The faster and more accurate it is received, the better. Because it provides immediate, shared, and completely transparent information stored on an immutable ledger that can only be accessed by permission network members, blockchain is ideal for delivering that information.

Orders, payments, accounts, production, and much more can all be tracked using a blockchain network. You can see all details of a transaction end to end because members share a single view of the truth, giving you greater confidence as well as new efficiencies and opportunities.

The following prediction was made in a recent Trend Insight Report by analyst firm Gartner:

  1. Only 10% of businesses will use blockchain to achieve any significant transformation by 2022.
  2. At least one innovative blockchain-based business will be worth $10 billion by 2022.
  3. By 2026, the value of blockchain to businesses will have risen to just over $360 billion, and by 2030, it will have risen to more than $3.1

For caste and diploma certificate validation, the Maharashtra government began using a blockchain-based system. Validation of certificates currently requires a lot of manual intervention and is vulnerable to fraud and forgery. False certificates can prevent people from getting jobs or going to school.

“The state government will now record all the necessary details related to a caste certificate and it will be issued to the applicant. Once issued, the data will be saved in the form of a QR code, using blockchain technology. Any government department can then scan the QR code of a candidate and cross-check his or her caste certificate,” – Deependrasinh Kushwah, CEO of the Maharashtra State Innovation Society.

BLOCKCHAIN and Fantasy Sports

Just like all, its other applications Blockchain can also solve the key issue of trust in the real money gaming market of India. Today all closed and centralized applications flood the real money gaming market of India and users are left to wonder where they can find a fair game.

Holy11 is built by HashMojo Labs Pvt Ltd a Mumbai-based Software and Blockchain development start-up that is working toward’s creating complete transparency in the real money gaming market and starting with the most loved game in India which is Fantasy Cricket.

Fantasy sports are online prediction games in which users can pick their own virtual cricket team for upcoming cricket matches. Real-life player statistics are converted into fantasy points, and you earn points for the players you picked before the match. The higher your fantasy points, the better your player performs in real life. Users with the highest points win the mega cash prizes.

Very few companies have developed blockchain-based transparent games but the problem with them is the list of confusing features like ;

  • Cryptocurrency Deposits
  • Game Tokens
  • Staking &
  • Digital collectibles and Marketplace
  • Trade Positions
  • Play Insurance

Holy 11 has built a no-nonsense and 100% transparent fantasy sports gaming platform with Fiat (INR) currency so as to make it easier for everyone to understand.

HOLY 11 is built with one purpose – to provide the best decentralized and the most transparent technology available to the world while building mass adoption of Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and Blockchain.

Rostec completes development of Russia’s first power plant for Arctic offshore rigs

Rostec’s United Engine Corporation has developed the first Russian power plant, GTA-8RM, for offshore production platforms. The unit is designed to resist extreme conditions: saltwater, storms, and freezing temperatures. The first units will supply power to the Kamennomysskoye-Sea Arctic ice-resistant platform off the coast of the Yamal Peninsula.

The power plant can run on gaseous or liquid fuel. This feature lowers operating costs and streamlines maintenance. The platform will receive four GTA-8RM units, thus the total capacity of the power plant will be 32 MW.

“Earlier, Russia had to import foreign equipment for these purposes. With our scientific and industrial competencies, we can achieve full import substitution in this segment. The power plant based on GTD-8RM power plants is the first product in the range of units that we are working on. The equipment is capable of operating in extreme conditions and will be used to supply energy to offshore ice-resistant platforms. The first delivery is slated for 2023,” First Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation Vladimir Artyakov said.

Rostec also develops and manufactures a range of ground-based power units of 2.5 to 25 MW capacity, including GTES-2.5 and Ural-6000 gas turbine power plants and a high-power turbine GTD-110M.

The Kamennomysskoye-Sea field was discovered in 2000. It has 535 bcm of natural gas reserves. Production is planned to start in 2025 from 42 wells.

Roscosmos and Rostec Developing Earth Observing System

Scientists of Russian Space Systems Holding (RSS, part of Roscosmos State Corporation) have developed a new-gen orbital observation device to support the prospective fleet of Earth remote sensing satellites (ERS). The satellite observation devices use a unique material, silicon carbide, manufactured by engineers of Rostec’s Shvabe Holding.

This domestic-originating system is being developed in cross-industry cooperation and will allow Russia to continuously monitor the Earth’s surface, providing high-resolution photos and videos. Specific materials, such as silicon carbide, help to reduce the weight and size of the spacecraft.

Silicon carbide manufactured by Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory of Rostec’s Shvabe Holding makes the body and parts of the optical circuit of the multispectral observation device, for which steel, aluminum, or titanium were previously used. The replaced material makes the device resistant to temperature fluctuations customary in space, greatly reduces the weight, and withstands even a temporary deformation of the outer shell exposed to an aggressive environment.

“Silicon carbide is one of the most promising composite materials for the aerospace industry. It has high specific stiffness, strength, and thermal conductivity. Through this, silicon carbide is the best fit to create optical devices operating under extreme temperature fluctuations, while maintaining image quality,” says Oleg Evtushenko, Rostec’s Executive Director.

Silicon carbide also allows for the installation of new imaging instruments on small satellites weighing below 120 kg. Satellites now operating in orbit have to bear as much as 500 kg of imaging instruments alone, which affects the total cost of both the satellite and its launching into orbit.

Holograms powering the future trends across sectors in India

As the world emerges from the pandemic, there is a new set of technologies that are powering the world of experiences. Holograms suddenly seem to have caught on the interest of almost every sector – either for portraying as experiences or for more complicated business cases such as digital twins, R&D, simulation, or even architecture. India seems to be leading the trend in this area as we notice widespread adoption of this futuristic technology.

It is a technology segment that seems to portray experiences as being beyond virtual reality, augmented reality, or mixed reality. How the trend catches on is to be seen but the start is definitely exciting. The sudden shift seems to be powered by companies that have been focusing on building these experiences – specially using innovative technologies to create 3D holograms. Not to be confused with prisms, hologram fans – these companies are building actual holograms in thin air.

3D holograms use the property of bending of light rays effectively to create interactive and virtual objects, people, and spaces – in thin air. While small-size holograms have been experimented with earlier, we see a new trend in the larger-size holograms that are being offered by some of the niche companies in this sector. The programmability is an aspect that makes these holograms powerful as they are no longer just showcases for statues and objects.

We are seeing the Real Estate sector starting to use 3D holograms to provide immersive and interactive walkthroughs to their potential customers. The clients get a realistic view of what’s coming up in the property, or even their apartments. The landscaping, the buildings, and the amenities are all seen as holograms. The entire family can now see the upcoming property by the builder – all standing together in the holographic rooms. There is finally the ability for you and your spouse to stand together and experience the view from the 16th-floor balcony -exactly how it would be rather than just how the builder wants to show it.

Tourism is getting a special boost by utilizing 3D holograms in being able to display tourist attractions and provide virtual holographic tours of these places to create interest for the tourists. Tourist information centres create awareness of various attractions through the effective use of this technology. Some centres themselves create holograms to give a virtual view of the possibilities – enhancing tourist interest in the venues. Museums are not to be left far behind. A museum could earlier only showcase about 10 to 20% of their artefacts. Today, using holograms and concepts such as photogrammetry, they are able to create holographic exhibitions to show rare and precious artefacts to visitors in an interesting and innovative way. We found the Museum of Art and Photography in Bangalore, India to be leveraging these 3D holograms extensively and the use cases are most amazing.

Geospatial technologies such as lidar scans are for the first time viewable on the hologram display devices. We are able to see hologram-enabled lidar solutions being created to power the control centers of cities of the future – right here in India. Lidar scans are capturing cities and terrains in 3D and always had a limitation of not being able to get displayed in a relevant format. This problem has been overcome by the availability of large size 3 holographic displays and the advancement of technology and solutions in this space. The programmable interactivity makes this technology even more relevant for lidar scans in the days to come.

The education sector in itself is getting ready to transform as we see the use of holograms. Brilliant teachers can now be converted into a 3D hologram and effectively deliver classes simultaneously in any part of the country or even the world. complex lessons can be explained easily 2 students using the 3D holograms to illustrate the subject better. History can be made even more exciting by immersing the students in the past and taking them to the historical structures to give a lesson that would otherwise have to be taught through photographs and text only.  We see a trend of aspirational schools leveraging this technology even further to give their students an edge in the future.

Corporates and the government sector are not to be left far behind. Almost every new experience center is beginning to ask for use of holograms to be part of their experience – be it a revamp or a completely new setup. This is because people of all age groups, professions, and sectors can see a very visible benefit in using 3D holograms to communicate their messages much better. there is also the advantage of using this futuristic technology as it is found exciting by the viewers.

With the advent of metaverse and NFTs powering the future, It is obvious that virtualization and holograms will be seen and used even more. The world of gaming is not to be left behind. In fact, it perhaps could become one of the earliest and biggest adopters of this new technology. And it is no secret about how big and influential this sector can be in powering the popularity of holograms across the other areas. It was interesting for us to see Holozone – an entertainment and gaming center-based purely on 3D holograms – at the Bangalore International Airport. The center provides a variety of 3D holographic games and experiences and is already extremely popular with reviews from visitors. We found the House of Toys – a new age toy store chain that recently opened up one of its first stores in Bangalore – experimenting with the setup of Holozone – as a holographic experience zone for the children and families while they shop for toys and games.

In fact, a Bangalore-based startup – OpEzee – has been creating and providing holograms in partnership with Euclideon Holographics from Australia. Their creative teams are powering experiences for their customers across sectors and building these right from here in India for the rest of the world. Some of the use cases include real estate walkthroughs for large and small clients, building smart interactive and immersive museum experiences, creating digital personas with interactive skills powered by the holograms, and displaying very accurate and intricate lidar data on holographic displays, using holograms for education and many more use cases. The company has invested in a hologram experience center right in the heart of town to be able to display the possibilities to their prospects.

Holograms definitely seem to be ready to power the trend of experiences in the future and the possibilities are very realistic in this totally virtual and innovative space.

Rostec participates in the creation of a pilot zone for drone flights in St. Petersburg

Fly Drone, a company in Rostec’s portfolio, is implementing a joint project with the government of St. Petersburg to create an urban air mobility pilot zone for testing drones. The infrastructure necessary for drone flights in the airspace of St. Petersburg is planned to be put in place by the summer of 2022.

The work will be carried out in partnership with the Research and Production Corporation Almaz. The corresponding agreement was signed with the Committee for Transport and the Committee for Informatization and Communications of St. Petersburg. According to the document, the parties will develop a special digital platform based on existing city services and a ground-based radar system. This will ensure safe flights of drones within the city and significantly simplify the procedure for their approval. In addition, the project will make it possible to form a database of verified airspace users.

In the future, the new digital platform will enable drone owners to offer themselves as contractors for orders placed in the system. Thus, the platform will create a market for professional drone-based services. In particular, drones can be used for aerial photography, various types of monitoring, urgent delivery of goods, as well as 3D modeling of the terrain and structures.

Fly Drone engineers will develop personalized online services for user registration, flight coordination, and liability insurance. Authorization in the system will be carried out through the Portal of Government Services. A drone owner will be able to file a flight plan application using a simplified interface and automatically receive permission from the transport committee to use the airspace. Application review is expected to take no more than one day. The integration of the developed platform into the system of digital city services of St. Petersburg is scheduled for May 2022.

“Our R&D products and competencies will help create a comfortable, safe, and absolutely legal environment for drone flights in St. Petersburg. The market for drone-based services is now emerging. Any company that manages to demonstrate the safety and availability of its technology will be in demand. We invite potential contractors and customers for such services to test them in the pilot zone. By working on this project, we are creating a highly competitive international product, which in the long run will allow our country to lead the global market,” the founders of Fly Drone say.

PJSC ALMAZ R&P Corp. will provide ground infrastructure, including the central control room of the monitoring system, a multilateration system, and a radar-optical complex for detecting low-observable low-altitude targets.
